Have a question?
Take a look at some frequently asked questions about our Breakdown Cover:
+Am I eligible for Breakdown Cover?
Available to UK residents and British Forces Germany (BFG) who are eligible for Forces Mutual products - this includes serving & retired military, veterans and ex-forces, military support staff and military family members.
+How quickly will someone get to me if I break down?
The aim is to attend the scene of a motor breakdown as quickly as possible. There may be times where delays arise due to external factors beyond control i.e. the weather or roadworks. During these times your patience is appreciated.
+Will you contact my friends or relatives?
So that they don’t worry, a call will be made to a person of your choice to let them know you’re OK.
+Am I covered if I run out of fuel?
You're covered if you run out of fuel. The recovery specialist will take your vehicle to the nearest garage/filling station to refuel the vehicle, if none available on the recovery vehicle. You will need to pay for any fuel.
+Can I get help if I only have a flat tyre?
Yes, although you should always carry a spare tyre. If you're towing a caravan or trailer, remember to carry a spare tyre for that as well.
+If I'm towing a caravan or trailer, is that covered?
Yes. If your car is towing a trailer or caravan, that's covered as long as it’s attached to the car by a standard 50-millimetre (2 inch) towing coupling. Caravans and trailers are restricted to a maximum length of 7 metres.
+What happens if my car can't be repaired at the roadside?
For any type of cover, we will take the insured vehicle to the nearest repairer within 20 mins of the breakdown. If you have Roadside & Recovery, UK or UK and Europe cover, you are entitled to the following:
- we will take the insured vehicle and you to any one place within the UK that you choose, or
- if you are more than 50 miles from the home address:
• vehicle hire up to £250 so that you can complete your journey and return to collect the insured vehicle after repair, or
• alternative means of public transport up to £150 so that you can complete your journey and return to collect the insured vehicle after repair, or
• overnight accommodation (on a room only basis) for 1 night, up to £75 per person to a total of £500, near where the insured vehicle is being repaired
+Am I covered immediately when I purchase cover?
Cover will be valid from midnight on the day that the Breakdown Cover is purchased. Break downs within the initial 24 hours of cover commencing will not be covered. This does not apply to policies at renewal.
+Which countries are covered in Europe?
Any country which is a member of the European Union, Andorra, Iceland, Norway, Serbia or Switzerland (including Liechtenstein).
+What happens if someone else drives my car?
